In my library #5

Buongiorno! E' un po' di tempo che non vi posto uno dei libri presenti nella mia libreria, e sono davvero entusiasta di presentarvi una delle artiste/designer/illustratrici/crafter che più ammiro e che mi ispirano maggiormente... :) Vi parlo della fantastica Beci Orpin.

Good morning! It's a bit of time that I don't post one of the books in my library, and I'm really excited to introduce you to one of the artists/designers/illustrators/crafter I most admire and who inspire me more... :) I speak about fantastic Beci Orpin.

Il libro, come si intuisce dal titolo, è dedicato alla casa: ci sono tantissimi progetti handmade dedicati ad ogni stanza, living, cucina  e sala da pranzo, camera da letto. Io aggiungerei "non solo", perchè oltre alle foto dei progetti illustrati passo passo, il libro è un avera opera d'arte, con molte foto di case australiane, illustrazioni e lavori di Beci, e una grafica stupenda.

The book, as you can guess from the title, is dedicated to home: there are plenty of handmade projects dedicated to each room, living room, kitchen and dining room, bedroom. I would add "not only" because in addition of pics of the projects illustrated step by step, the book is a true work of art, with many photos of Australian homes, illustrations and works of Beci, and a superb graphics.

Io personalmente credo che farò ogni progetto di questo libro! Il primo, lo avete visto, è il tappeto di fettuccia! Mi manca poco, ancora 3-4 giri di azzurro, poi è pronto per la camera dei miei bambini! :)
Il mondo di Beci, fatto di colori pastello, forme geometriche, pattern e collage è fantastico e unico.
Avrete capito che la ammiro tantissimo, voi la conoscete?

I personally believe that I will make every project in this book! The first, as you have seen, is the rug! I miss not much, still 3-4 turns of light blue, then it is ready for the room of my children! :)  
The world of Beci, made of pastel colors, geometric shapes, patterns, and collage is fantastic and unique.  
You understand that I admire so much, you know her?

In my new studio!

E' passata una settimana dall'ultimo post... Che cosa sta succedendo?? ;)
E' un periodo un po' particolare, è già un po' che lo dico... La primavera e altre ragioni che vi racconterò hanno portato un grande bisogno di cambiamento, nella mia vita, e anche nella nostra casa.
Se vogliamo, anche una maggiore consapevolezza di quello che si è, o di quello che si è diventati, e di nuovi obbiettivi da raggiungere...
Sta di fatto che c'è stato un cambio stanze! :)
Il mio studio è dove era prima la cameretta dei bambini...! La casa è ancora un po' sottosopra, con mensole e scaffali da montare, smalti e pennelli sparsi qua e la...
Ma intanto inizio a mostrarvi qualcosa... E anche se c'è ancora tanto disordine... Sono felice!

It's been a week since the last post... What's going on? ;)
It's a time a bit special, is already a bit that I'm saying... Spring and other reasons that will tell you, brought a much needed change in my life, and even in our home.
If you want, even more aware of what I am, or what one has become, and new goals to achieve...
The fact is that there was a change rooms! :)
My studio is where it was before the kid's room...! The house is still a bit upside down, with shelves and shelves to fit, glazes and brushes scattered here and there...
But in the meantime I start to show you something... And even if there is so much mess... I'm happy!

I libri dei piccoli #5

Nuovo appuntamento con "I libri dei piccoli"!
Oggi vi parlo di un libro speciale. Un libro sui dinosauri, come ovviamente si intuisce dalla copertina, che ho regalato a Sebastian in occasione del suo 5° compleanno. Cosa ha di speciale?
Lo avrete intuito, i colori! :)

New appointment with "I libri dei piccoli"! 
Today we talk about a special book. A book about dinosaurs, of course, as you can imagine from the cover, which I gave to Sebastian the occasion of its 5th birthday. What is so special? 
You may have guessed, the colors! :)

Un modo diverso di trattare l'argomento, in cui in una semplice storia sull'evoluzione della specie, vengono illustrati con grande cura i diversi tipi di dinosauri...

A different way of treating the subject, in which a simple story about the evolution of species, are illustrated with great care the different types of dinosaurs...

Quello che mi ha colpito di più è l'impatto visivo del libro, che risulta davvero elegante, forte e delicato allo stesso tempo; le doppie pagine alternano illustrazioni a due colori...

What struck me most is the visual impact of the book, which is really elegant, strong and delicate at the same time; the double page alternatetwo colors illustrations...

... e illustrazioni a tutto colore, in un continuo susseguirsi di paesaggi, colori e texture che rendono il libro davvero moderno.
Perchè non si tratta di un libro moderno! Si tratta di una riedizione, il libro è uscito per la prima volta nel 1958! E guardate quanto è attuale!

... and full-color illustrations, in a continuous succession of landscapes, colors and textures that make the book really modern. 
Why this is not a modern book! This is a re-edition, the book came out for the first time in 1958! And look at how actual!

Perchè il rosa dovrebbe essere un colore da femmina? Perchè fare distinzione tra libri "da femmina" e libri "da maschio"? In fondo, anche Barbapapà è rosa, e Barbamamma è nera... No?
